Clean Sweep

It never gets old beating Carolina...especially when it's in football AND basketball!  I'm going to bed once again proud to be a Tiger and almost feeling sorry for those who have to put up with losing to Clemson all the time...

Happy New Year (early) to everyone, and I will be back on January 2nd to report on the outcome of the Gator Bowl!  Graham and I are leaving early Thursday morning for Jacksonville on a bus with friends and family...GO TIGERS!

Holiday Happenings

I am definitely in the Christmas spirit with only one week left before Christmas break!  I am so thankful to be in our own house this year, I love watching tv with our tree lights on, and snuggling on the couch with Graham and Riggs!  Wondering what those beautiful tulips are down there for?  Two years ago yesterday Graham proposed!  He surprised me with this beautiful Christmas tulip arrangement....too sweet I know!  He's going to hate me for writing this but the card said "here's 15 times thank you for saying yes 2 years ago today"!

Deluxe Christmas Tulips with Fresh Douglas Fir
Enough mushy...life at school has been crazy...My kids are literally bouncing from wall to wall and breaking out in spontaneous Christmas carols in the middle of math....BUT they do make me smile with every "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "you better not pout, you better not cry!"

Graham and I have been busy, busy bees and its going to pick up even more this week...we went to my bunko group's cocktail party last night, we just got back from Graham's dad's birthday party,  I am going to the Nutcracker with my nieces, sister in law, and mother in law tomorrow night (the Cracker Nut as Sanders calls it), Graham's cousin is throwing a party on Wednesday, teacher party Thursday night, and off to Florence until the 23rd to do Christmas with my family.  My middle brother "debuts" this Saturday in the Florentine Society.  Yes..I know its weird the girls debut and the sons are honored...Graham thinks this is totally wrong and can't get over Michael Ross "coming out" so to speak, but I can't wait to see him all decked out in his formal Citadel uniform.

We will be back home for Christmas Eve and then there will be some serious relaxing until we go to the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville New Year's Day!

I have been an awful blogger lately so if I don't get back before all the festivities, I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

31-14

This is a week late but that's because I still have not come down from CLOUD NINE yet!  If you follow Clemson or heard anything about the football team this past season it is has been awful to say the least...

So...as usual USC decided that this was gonna be the year that they were going to beat us...

Well, I was at the game...having the time of my life and all I have to say is sorry your Hall of Famer, Heisman winner, All-American, sent from the lord himself coach couldn't even touch our wide receivers coach not to mention tackle James Davis or CJ Spiller!  31-14

Please watch this video it is HILARIOUS and it pretty much sums up the game if you didn't catch it.  (Carolina fans should watch it as a re-cap since they started leaving Death Valley at the end of the 1st quarter....)

Nervous Nelly...

That's me right now.

Graham and I have been in Clemson since Wednesday to spend Thanksgiving with my family (my extremely devoted grandparents live a stone's throw away from Death Valley) and I am getting so EXCITED/SICK about the game!

Wish us luck...I think we are about to go the Esso (yeah i know its 3:30) and then to the basketball game tonight.  Win or lose I am so proud to be a Tiger and so glad that I don't root for the chickens.

64-37-4 (series record).

I'm still HERE!

Graham and I are hosting our first party at our house this weekend and life has been crazy since we got back from our vacation! Our friends from school, Lauren and Kyle are getting married in May and we (along with 12 other Clemson buddies) are throwing a tailgate engagement party this weekend around the Florida State/ Clemson game....sooo I running around trying to clean up this house! I promise...when the party is over this Sunday I will do the following: post cruise pictures, respond to Christie's tag, post pictures of the party, and update my (very few) readers on life!

Until then...wish me luck on my first go at entertaining!

Back on land..back to reality!

We JUST got back from our cruise and it was absolutely perfect. There is no other way to describe four days in the middle of the ocean with my fabulous husband!

Pictures will be up soon when I get my feet on the ground and stop swaying from the imaginary boat I still seem to be on...

Day 1: We got on the boat Sunday around 1:00, by-passed all the confused people who had never been on the boat before (this is my fourth time...spoiled? definitely) headed straight to a delicious lunch, and immediately glued ourselves to a chair by the pool in the adult only area. Our relaxation was rudely interrupted by the mandatory lifeboat drill, but we were soon back in business assuming the tropical drink/pool day.

Later on, we got to go to one of my favorite shows on the Disney Wonder, The Golden Mickeys! These Broadway-like shows rival anything I've seen in NY! We had dinner at an island themed restaurant, Parrot Cay and explored the ship!

Day 2: Woke up and had a HUGE breakfast and went back to the pool. It was our day at sea so we just relaxed the whole day, went to Toy Story the Musical, and had dinner at Triton's, a french restaurant.

Day 3: Bahamas day! We woke up in the beautiful Bahamas with a view of the Atlantis and gorgeous blue water. Graham had surprised me with a couples massage for our anniversary so we headed to the spa and had the best massage EVER. We were going to go explore downtown Nassau but we love the ship so much we marveled at the beauty of the island from our cozy pool chair and had our new friend Adam bringing us Pina Coladas all day!

There wasn't a show so we went to Diversions, the sports Pub to watch some ESPN before dinner. Well imagine our jaws dropping to the floor when we see that Tommy Bowden had been "relieved from his duties" on the bottom ticker! A lot goes on when you have no contact to the outside world. I was a Tommy Bowden supporter, but I am really excited to see what is going to happen in Death Valley with this new shake-up in the program...but that's a whole new post altogether...

Day 4: Castaway Cay day! Disney has its own private island in the middle of the Bahamas. Its hard to describe, just trust me, its whatever your idea of an island paradise is! We took a tram to the remote side of the island to the adult beach. We picked a chairs close to the water and once again did not move all day! It was so hard to leave when they called all aboard but we had to get ready for the final show, Disney Dreams. We had dinner at Animator's Palate, a really neat restaurant that starts out black and white but transforms into bright colors throughout the meal.

We sadly got up this morning and drove back with grumpy, frowny faces but it's back to reality after a wonderful, much-needed vacation!

100 MPH

My only excuse for not blogging lately is that I have been going non-stop since school has started. Between going to Clemson and working constantly I have not had a chance to catch my breath until today!

Last weekend, I went up to Clemson by myself to stay with my parents and see my friends. Graham had to stay behind to pick their fall crop of grape tomatoes. Little did he know, he was actually the lucky one for not being able to watch the "tiger self-implosion" in person. Oh well, you can't win them all! (especially if you shoot yourself in the foot with silly penalties....but anyway....)
I had a great week at school and had SO MUCH fun last night at the Shrimp Festival downtown with Hunter, Joe, Christie, Brad, Margaret, and Ben. It was a beautiful night for friends and the Blue Dogs!
Today, is total relaxation day....tomorrow is full teacher mode with a big dose of super planning because next Saturday I will be on my way to my favorite place in the whole wide world....
The Disney Wonder! Graham and I are going on a late anniversary, early Christmas trip next weekend from Sunday-Thursday. This is my fourth time going on this cruise and Graham's 2nd and I will never go on another boat. It is absolutely amazing, top of the line, luxury! I am SOOO excited. Here are some pictures of the last time we went, last spring, with my mom, before we got married.
On Disney's private island, Castaway CayView of the actual Pirate's of the Caribbean's Flying Dutchmen from our room docked in Castaway CaySerenity Bay the adult only pool where we spend the most time
This next week is going to be crazy trying to plan for 3 days of school that I will not be there for, but I am up for the challenge and ready to be on my way to paradise!

Can you actually get tired of being lazy?

That's a question that I was having trouble with yesterday on our watching football/laying on the couch marathon.

It was our first weekend at home in a month and we REALLY took advantage of it. We woke up way to early and started watching Gameday and getting pumped for our game. We went over to Hunter and Joe's and had a delicious lunch while we listened to our game against SC State on the radio. After the first quarter, Graham figured out how to work ESPN 360 with his nerdy computer skills and we got to watch the rest of the game! After our game, we continued to watch the other 100 games that were on tv and finally fell asleep to the LSU/Auburn game. Not a bad day huh? Well Graham has no problem attaching himself to the couch but I get a little antsy and need fresh air/entertainment, so today when he wanted a repeat of yesterday, I went to school to get some much needed work done and I am now back at home working on Progress Reports. Who said Sundays were a day of rest? That doesn't exist when you are a teacher!

Anyway, I am proud to say that Clemson SHUT OUT SC State to a 54-0 victory and I am very excited to be back in Death Valley this weekend to play Maryland. Most of our friends will be there and it should be another great football weekend in beautiful Clemson! 3-1 GO TIGERS!

Tired Tiger...

We just got back from our second trip to Clemson in a row and....WE WON! We are back on track with a 2-1 record and ready to keep the momentum going! Unfortunately we are not going back for the 3rd of a four game home marathon in Death Valley this weekend against SC State but it will be a great moral booster for some very tired tigers!

Hanna, Karma, and a Clemson Cadet

I am the worst blogger ever! But because I have 100% consumed myself into school stuff, I will probably just be doing weekly posts until the dust settles!

I am at school really early this morning because Graham dropped me off before work. He is going to pick me up at 1:00 to head to CLEMSON! We get dismissed early today because of our little visit from our friend Hanna. Hopefully we don't come back to a tree in our house!

Karma...That's what my arch enemies the Carolina Gamecocks are dealing with this morning. They thought it was SOO funny that #9 Clemson got beat by Alabama. They thought it was SOO funny when it was a team from their "untouchable" conference that handed it to us. Well the jokes on them this morning. They got upset by a mediocre Vanderbilt team last night!

And finally...I am so excited about this weekend. Yes its the first home game of the season and a bunch of my girl friends are going to be there but I am so thrilled that my little brother is going to be on the sidelines at Death Valley...for the other team. He plays football for the Citadel but because he is one of the third string wide receivers he was not sure if he was going to be able to go. They can't travel with the whole team so he went to one of the coach's and explained how much it would mean to him to be on the sidelines in Clemson even if it was for the other team. My whole family is CRAZY about Clemson but he has always been more die-hard than anyone else from a very young age. I am so proud of him!

GO TIGERS!

Bamboozled

...that's what I'm feeling. Bamboozled is a term that was coined by one of Graham's fraternity brothers while we were at Clemson. He would say it all the time...using it when something happened that was unexplainable and just plain mind boggling. I just got back from Atlanta for the Clemson vs. Alabama game and if you have been hearing all the football hype about Clemson and then watched the game last night you probably feel a little bamboozled as well.

With that being said we had a really good time in Atlanta. We saw tons of our Clemson buddies (pictures to follow) and had a great time until we stepped foot in the Georgia Dome. After riding the MARTA back to the hotel packed like sardines and "pinky promising" that we are NEVER going back to Atlanta for any reason what so ever (except for a connecting flight if necessary) Graham and I are back home ready to go to Clemson on Friday for the Citadel game.

I look forward to winning the next 11 games and putting this uncanny experience to rest!

GO TIGERS!

First Day Jitters

It was only a half day and I am EXHAUSTED! I had forgotten how much energy it takes to keep up with 12- 6 year olds! I have a PRECIOUS class. You would think on the first day that they would be quiet, nervous, some-what reserved...NOPE! My class was chit chatty all day but seemed very comfortable with me and eachother. I think I was more nervous than they were!It all started with a bloody loose tooth which eventually popped out (you would have thought the little girl lost a limb) and the first words out of one little boys mouth was "I don't have any scissors." You may be thinking big whoop...he said he needed some scissors. Well, he said it in the cutest first grade speech impetement way when you can't say your "r"s and it just comes out awwwws. TOO CUTE!

The best part was seeing my kids from last year. I was always told that you will never forget your first class during your first year teaching and I can completely relate after today. I got hug after hug and even a "clamped around the neck, holding on forever, never letting go" kind of hug....priceless! I have the most rewarding job in the world!

Wedding, MVP, and Sharks...

...the title pretty much sums up what's been going on with me!

Graham and I just got back from Caroline (one of my Clemson KKG sorority sisters) and Trenton's wedding in Charleston. It was absolutely beautiful and it was so good to see some college buds. This is me, Kathleen, Hannah, Meg, Lindsey, and Leslie. Aren't the bridesmaid's dresses precious??

MVP? Not "most valuable player" in my case. All my life I have been experiencing a weird extra heart beat. It would maybe happen once a week for a couple seconds. Unfortunately, last week it hit an all time high...escalating into heart palpitations and sharp chest pain for 2 straight days. On the third day, I started to get very concerned and frankly very scared. I got squeezed in to my family Dr. where they hooked me up to an EKG machine and recorded the palpitations. They gave me a 24 holter monitor to wear at home and record my heart activity (not fun, it was extremely uncomfortable). My family Dr. referred me to a cardiologist where he believes he will diagnose me with MVP...mitral valve prolapse. Basically, your mitral valve controls blood flow on the left side of your heart. The valve opens and closes with each heartbeat. It works like a one-way gate, letting blood flow from your upper heart chamber to your lower chamber.
When you have mitral valve prolapse, the valve closes after blood flows through. But the valve bulges backward a little. It looks like a tiny parachute or balloon as it bulges. The good thing is, its not dangerous and totally normal for those who have had it as an infant. Depending on the severity, the cardiologist will prescribe medicine to make this weird feeling of my heart pounding through my chest go away! Good news...I'm not dying but boy was I terrified!

On a lighter note, for all you shark week fans out there...I hope you are not watching it more than my husband...you may start speaking in shark terms:

We were pulling into our favorite, local Mexican restaurant which seemed a little crowded to Graham because he decided that "people are flocking here like great whites to Seal Island." Dork. Thank goodness Shark Week 2008 wraps up tonight on the Discovery Channel..I'm beginning to see these guys in my sleep...

Sing It Sunday!

So I've been tagged by Caren and Magnolia Belle's Musings to intentionally embarrass myself and list 5 songs that I would never admit to singing out loud...lucky for you readers I am a total dork and have always been made fun of my elevator music/ soft rock / old people music choices...

In no particular order...
1. Air Supply- Even the Nights are Better...classic, belt it out when you are alone kind of song
2. Billy Ocean-Get Outta My Dreams....and into my car...come on you know you this one!
3. Cher- I Found Someone...I really feel like a superb singer when I perform this one....NOT
4. Chicago- You're the Inspiration....OK anything by Chicago! I actually had a roommate in college hear my Chicago collection, and she rolled her eyes while saying "Are you serious? This is what my Dad has in the waiting room of his doctor's office"...she was definitely not impressed.
5. Clay Aiken- Invisible...too embarrassing to even warrant an explanation.

The sad thing is..I had to really narrow down my choices...I know loser alert!

Lazy Blogger

I guess there just hasn't been much going on worth writing about...

I have been going to school more often to get my classroom ready, and I'm almost there! We start on the 18th of August, and I am very excited for a new year and new crop of precious little first graders!

Even though school starts pretty soon, I am trying to lay low until a week before we have to go back and work. I am trying to be as lazy as possible because once those little tikes walk in the room for the first time, it hits me like a ton of bricks, and I am not sane again until the end of May. Therefore, I have been a t.v. junkie and a movie watching fiend (well-deserved of course).

A couple nights ago, I went with some friends to see MAMA MIA! If you haven't seen it...GO! It makes you want to get up and dance or sing at the top of your lungs (as the 60 year old ladies behind us could not stop doing). I am going to get the soundtrack and you better believe I am going to see it again...its just one of those feel good, make you smile kinds of movies...fabulous.

That's about all folks...my life will start "bitter sweetly"picking up again in August due to back to work but FOOTBALL SEASON!

Looking forward to a summer party at Margaret's tonight...I'm off to make some cheesecake brownies....YUM!

Under Construction and a big Yipee!

Thank you Hilary! My blog needed a serious makeover, and I looove it....very "Clemsonesque" with the orange and purple accents! : )

Congratulations to Bailey! She beat out Autumn and won Legally Blonde the Search for Elle Woods...whew I was sweating it out at the end. I had to watch it this morning on Tivo because Graham and I went to see Batman last night (amazingly phenomenal movie by the way)! I immediately called Graham (he watched the majority of the season with me....shhhh....don't tell him I told) and asked him when we were going to see her on Broadway since I invested so much time in the show AND my MOH Liza lives in the big apple AND the last time that I got fully invested in a reality show that found Broadway leads (Grease) we got to go!...Unfortunately he gave me the big thumbs down, but you better believe I'm not going down without a fight!

To Market, To Market...

...to buy everything in sight! I had the most fabulous weekend at America's Mart in Atlanta. My Dad is an architect so my Mom and his secretary have gone the past 5 or so years claiming that they were part of the architecture design firm (slightly true/untrue..whatever gets you in to paradise)! I've been begging to be guest status for forever and since we just bought a new house and finally have some income I got the invite this year. We stayed at the elegant Ritz Carlton downtown and had the most amazing meals, people watching on their second story porch. We strutted around like we owned the place!

The main purpose of me going was to buy a hutch for our china that has been sitting in boxes since the wedding. I walked around the first 2 hours with my mouth wide open...just imagine potterybarn half off!!! The showrooms have the most beautiful furniture and home accessories you can ever imagine and there are 12 floors of them! Most of the showrooms have all the wine you can drink for free which helps you pull the trigger on most of the purchases!

The most overwhelming part was the jewelry and accessories building. My favorite was this huge showroom where Luna and Copper Penny buy all of their jewelry, and I got TONS of jewelry wholesale. I mean earrings that I bought for $30 in a boutique were $5.00 in this place. (That part actually made me pretty sick). What also made my stomach turn was the Hobo International Showroom...of course they had all their new lines displayed for boutique buyers but we asked the exhibitor if they sold any samples and she led us to this very covert, back room where we found HOBO HEAVEN! My mom got the same $115 clutch that I got for my birthday for $30!!! (She was very quick to rub it in my face the whole weekend).

All in all, my house is getting a complete makeover for wholesale prices. I can't wait for the orders to start rolling in...YAY for Market!!!! I'm already looking forward to next year!

D-O-N-E

Done. I am done with The Bachelorette, The Bachelor, or any show that has any similar plot line. If you haven't heard the earth-shattering news, Deanna ( I like to call her another name if you catch my drift) decided to crush precious, handsome, sweet, 3 year old Dad to Ty- Jason's heart and pick long haired, stubby legg-ed, snowboarding Jesse! This was no doubt a complete shock to everyone that has invested time in this show and I don't think I have ever screamed more profanities at a t.v. in my life! I was actually clenching my fists and punching the air in the direction of the tv (if Graham thought I was crazy before, I have really proven it now). I am so00 mad and as the 4 people that read my blog as my witnesses I will NEVER watch that show AGAIN....thanks a lot Deanna...you have ruined it for me!

Whew! Now to my absolute FAVORITE show in the whole wide world Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods! I am also sad to report that I was 0 for 2 last night with my predictions. As I recently stated on a previous post, my favorite Elle is Bailey from Anderson, SC but Natalie was becoming a front-runner and she was going to get another leg up when she turned blonde in last night's episode. Well, I was wrong again because Natalie was the one that got cut! Bailey was in the bottom three but she was saved and lives to sing, dance, and act another day! If she wins, I really want to plan a trip to NY to see the show. GO BAILEY!

Enough t.v...I am a little upset about my blog design dreams getting smashed. Every time I go to Jenissa's website to see if my name has moved up on the waiting list...it has gone down. This has happened because people are paying double to get their name moved up to the top and I just can't justify paying double for a blog design ( no matter how BAD I want it). So please people, let my poor blog get a seriously needed makeover and stop being so SELFISH!

Elizabeth's Favorite Things- Summer Edition

I have decided to get inspired by Oprah and post my favorite things of summer. (The only difference is that I will not be giving all of them away by the bagillion....so jealous of that audience.)

Favorite Thing # 1 (In no particular order)....Sun Dresses

I am completely in love with everything J.Crew...especially in the summer. They have the best dresses that are fun, classy, and comfortable! My favorite this year is the Deco Dot Zoey Dress. At first, I ordered it in orange for a Clemson game...before I knew it, I had ordered it in hot pink too!

  • Favorite Thing # 2 Legally Blonde: The Search for Elle Woods
This has been my new favorite show this summer and pretty much the only way I am getting through the "no good summer tv show doldrums" that I feel like I am stuck in. With the exception of The Bachelorette and So You Think You Can Dance I am living for Monday nights at 10:00 on MTV! Legally Blonde on Broadway is looking for a new Elle Woods and the show is fascinating to me. I am a longtime dancer who looooooves Broadway shows and catty girl dramas. Perfect Combination! I am rooting for Bailey. She's from Anderson, SC and goes to Coastal Carolina and she's so stinking cute. She has trouble with her accent but she's definitely a front runner. Unfortunately, I think Natalie is going to win and she's not even a BLONDE. Seriously, if you are going to be in a show called LEGALLY BLONDE, don't you think you would at least dye your hair before the auditions??!!! (Update: In the next episode....the judges make her dye it...finally) If you haven't watched this show you can watch all the episodes on MTV.com.

Bailey's the one on the far right with the one shoulder pink dress. (My fave)

  • Favorite Thing # 3 Sweet Tea Vodka

Looking for a new summer drink? Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka and Lemonde. It's so refreshing and absolutely delicious. It's made at a distillery on Wadamalaw Island right here in SC... YUUUMY (that's about all I can say about that).

I'm not sure what that Muscadine stuff is but maybe I should give it a whirl...

  • Favorite Thing # 4 Sandals
I absolutely hate for my toes to be crammed into a closed-toe shoe. Therefore, I try not to subject my little piggies to cramming until the VERY last minute of late fall. All summer, I have been alternating between my three favorite pairs of sandals:

Jack Rogers...
Tory Burch...
And of course...Rainbows (and we all know what those fabulous things look like).

  • Favorite Thing # 5 My New House
This doesn't really fit the list but I couldn't love my house any more. I love shopping for it, decorating it, and even cleaning it! The previous owner (and one of my favorite blog reads) just uploaded pictures of her new house on her blog and has inspired me to do the same. Coming soon!

I'm getting PIMPED!

Don't worry I haven't decided to change my lifestyle...I am just really excited that my blog won't be boring anymore! I am on a waiting list (yes she is THAT popular) to get my blog redesigned by Jennisa. When she is done she puts a link on your blog that says " I just got pimped by Jennisa's Bloggie Designs." My blog will look just as cute as Christie and Margaret's soon. The world of blogging just continues to amaze me!

No problem...We Stayed in a Holiday Inn Express Last Night

This past weekend, I met a bunch of Clemson buddies in Murrell's Inlet for Party at the Point! Mary, Liza, Marshall, and I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express and had a ball. The weekend began with Mary and I trying to steer 10 boxes of tomatoes that Graham and I picked up to our room. P.S. Graham couldn't come...we were very sad. We probably looked like we just beat up a roadside produce salesman because we were quite a sight. We finally made it to our room as you see below...after several attempts and near catastrophes. After Marshall fetched Liza from the airport we jumped in the car and headed to Wahoo's...Kasey and Lee FINALLY made it...

It was so good to see my Liza...she lives way to far away for me to handle...
The next day..Marshall woke us all up at 8:00am. We were told that we would picked up at 10:00 to head to the beach. 10:00 turned into 11:00 and 11:00 turned into 12:00 and soon we were waiting at a private dock feeling like no one would ever come to rescue us! Finally, Hagood and Charlie pull up in their rented, ghetto pontoon boat and we barely get to unpack our junk before this came along....

We tried our hardest to ignore the hurricane coming straight for us but we finally got smart and left the beach and headed for a friend's house. That night, we went to Miyabi for dinner. Mary's birthday was Sunday and mine was Tuesday so they decided to embarrass us with a Japanese drumming spectacle...

After we danced in front of the whole restaurant we headed to Wahoo's to celebrate Mary's birthday at midnight! I miss you girls already...what a FABULOUS weekend!

23= Old Man

It is Graham's birthday today, but since he refuses to add his "two cents" on OUR blog then he will have to settle for me adding my own comments about him! (it's only fair)

Graham has decided that 23 is old. He has been counting down the last month to when he is the depressing age of 23. He says that 22 was perfect...23 is too old.

This brings me back to a time when one of my dearest friends turned 20. She too had a crisis in which she did not like the age she was turning and proceeded to cry and carry on yelling that she was "not a teen statistic anymore!!!!" While she was supposed to be enjoying the company of her friends, going out in Clemson, and eating yummy cake...she was hysterical. I won't name names...but this was a night that we will NEVER forget!

With that said....I for one LOVE my birthday. It is exactly in the middle of the year, middle of the summer, and I will be one of the last ones of my friends to turn the dreaded 30, 40, or 50. Sorry for all you birthday haters, temper-tantrum throwers, and whoa-is-me Grahams out there, all I have to say is YAY for my birthday in 8 days and Happy Birthday Grahamy....I love you so much!

In lieu of our birthdays being so close together...here are a couple pictures from my 21st birthday. He thought he was hot stuff because he had turned 21 8 days earlier..WHOOP DE DO! : )

Busy Bees

Don't think for a minute that teachers have a relaxing summer off...especially when you have married into a family of tomato farmers! I have been recruited to cook for 20+ people at the tomato packing house. I absolutely LOVE to cook so this is a perfect job for me. It just gets a little hectic and the Publix people know me by name!

We don't get home until late and neither of us feel like cleaning up the house...so for the short break I have before I head back to my favorite grocery store I am blogging and cleaning up.

I am very lucky that I got a chance to go to Florence this past weekend to see my family and attend Skarupa's wedding (friend I grew up with). I got to see all my buddies and had a FABULOUS time at the movies, going out to eat, getting fried by the pool, and crying at the end of the reception with them. At the top is our fabulous picture (I can't figure out how to move the pictures...I wanted it at the bottom!)

Blog Block

I have writer's block.

I keep asking Graham to blog to kick it up a notch and make it interesting, but he absolutely REFUSES. So, I have resorted to asking him what to blog and he just says "why don't you write about how much you are annoying me right now." So sweet.

Update on my life: SCHOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER! I have been kiddo-free (Graham hates the word kiddo, therefore I will be using it as much as possible) for one week, but I have still had to go to school and have tons of meetings. I would much rather be hanging out with my kiddos than talk logistics with adults.... Graham is working extremely hard on the farm and I will be shopping and cooking for the packing house in a week or so! Riggs is currently LOVING his new XL bed from Orvis that came in today, but still hangs half of his body off of it when he sleeps using only a fourth of the pillow...figures.

As for my readers...I think my little brother is the only one. Enjoy Davis!

Scratch that...

So scratch that last part about getting a new coffee table. We will definitely be getting something new but it will most likely be a new rug......he did it AGAIN!

I am currently trying to figure out what is wrong with our dog (FYI there is nothing wrong I just bug Graham trying to diagnose him with all sorts of things....the final verdict is that he is a puppy who likes to chew).

School countdown....2 days left! We are going to put shaving cream on our desks tomorrow and draw with our fingers...stir crazy and out of things to do?? ABSOLUTELY!

Sweet Riggs...Gone Bad

So we were sitting in the living room Saturday night trying to get the energy to go downtown. It was Graham and I on the couch and Riggs eating a bone on the rug (supposedly) when I heard the most horrible sound EVER!

My darling, precious puppy had eaten a soft ball sized hole in my BRAND NEW POTTERY BARN RUG!

I am getting sick just thinking about it. Of course, I lash out and yell at Graham like he had gotten down on all fours and chomped at the rug, and I carry on like a child that had just dropped their ice cream cone on the ground. We did not go out that night as we were both livid at the dog and out of the mood (probably because of my hysterics).

Needless to say, a little good comes out of this horrifying tale. My birthday is coming up and Graham has decided that I could get the sea grass coffee table that I have wanted that will just so happen cover the crime scene. Happy Birthday to Me!

Sorry!

I have been a terrible blogger lately. I have been informed that I need to have another post but...that means I have to think of something to update my readers on my life and there's not much going on with me ( I was afraid this would happen...see first post).

If you note the time, I am at school right now. I am waiting on my chillen's to get back from P.E. We only have 6 more days of school left and I am happy yet sad at the same time. Although this year has been challenging with all new experiences, these are the only students I have ever had that were ALL MINE. They are precious. Thank goodness they will be 5 steps away in the second grade classrooms!

Enough mush..today is the Lower School Talent Show. My whole class is doing an act (cross your fingers). Some of you will remember singing The 50 States That Rhyme at Royal Elementary. Well, I have brought that song to BA and they are SOOO CUTE! If you don't know what it is...it is the 50 states sung in a rhyme fashion in alphabetical order...quite the talent...especially when they do it DOUBLE TIME! I'll let you know how it goes...they've only done it once through without a melt down.

Well, its time to go get them. They will be wired for sound and wild as can be after P.E....I promise to do better about posts..although there is rarely any juicy, out-of-this world information I can offer. It is just me, Graham, Riggs, tomatoes, and 15 angels!

Thursday's Thirteen

Apparently when you blog you use this new lingo like Fun Friday, Wordless Wednesday, and such. Well, today is Thursday's 13.

13 Things that I LOVE (Excluding Family, Friends, and Riggs):

13. Mexican food...Actually went tonight. I guess it goes back to Monterrey days at Clemson where we all seemed to know when a Mexican fix was needed and the boys said it was disgusting...
12. Sleeping in...In the "real-world" it doesn't happen as much as I would like....
11. Good Songs...You know the song that you can belt in the car with your friends...
10. Starburst...old school tropical flavor (not a big fan of the new kind)
9. Tulips...I pick up a couple of bouquets every time I go to Publix. Just having them in the house makes me smile...Graham still hasn't gotten the point...
8. Dancing...not the dancing in front of your mirror kind of dance but ballet and performing on stage..I miss it alot.
7. Lists...and I don't see how people live a day without them!
6. Summer...I love everything about it..the cute tops, warm weather, and tropical drinks.
5. Shopping...enough said.
4. The Beach...beach houses, the ocean, the sand, the sun, and reading a book all day in an uncomfortable beach chair.
3. Teaching...Everyday is completely different...I can't believe how much I have taught them this year...and I don't even have to wear those horrifying teacher sweaters!
2. Clemson...Football, baseball, the skunk smell when you drive in, the 4 amazing years I spent there and the lifelong friends I met.
1. Birthdays...HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARSHALL (this is actually two-fold...Marshall has been the biggest critic about my fabulous blog BUT she has been bugging me about posting again....hmmm somebody's hooked!

Clemson "Riggs"field Sanders

I figured for my second post (of the day) that it was only appropriate to dedicate it to my special buddy.

Our puppy, Riggs, is perfect. He was born in October of 2007 and we got him shortly there after (actually it was the day before we beat Carolina last year....just a side note). He is named after Riggs Field in Clemson (which seems to be the common thread here..big surprise!). He is extremely smart, very well behaved and happens to be very spoiled rotten as he trots off to work with Graham every morning.

Never say never...

Well, I always said that I would never have a blog but...here I am! I am sick in bed with strep throat (most likely given to me by one of my darling students) bored out of my mind, and decided to give it a shot.

I am not sure what I will be posting about seeing that my life mostly consists of my amazing husband, my new house, crazy first graders, my adorable puppy, and trying to keep up with my friends and family that are dispersed all over the place.

I am hoping that after the initial laughing and making fun of me is over, my friends will join me in experimenting this blog stuff and lay off of Facebook for awhile. I miss them terribly and I think that this could be a fun way to keep eachother updated on our busy lives (with that said...you can continue making fun of me!)
