Bamboozled

...that's what I'm feeling. Bamboozled is a term that was coined by one of Graham's fraternity brothers while we were at Clemson. He would say it all the time...using it when something happened that was unexplainable and just plain mind boggling. I just got back from Atlanta for the Clemson vs. Alabama game and if you have been hearing all the football hype about Clemson and then watched the game last night you probably feel a little bamboozled as well.

With that being said we had a really good time in Atlanta. We saw tons of our Clemson buddies (pictures to follow) and had a great time until we stepped foot in the Georgia Dome. After riding the MARTA back to the hotel packed like sardines and "pinky promising" that we are NEVER going back to Atlanta for any reason what so ever (except for a connecting flight if necessary) Graham and I are back home ready to go to Clemson on Friday for the Citadel game.

I look forward to winning the next 11 games and putting this uncanny experience to rest!

GO TIGERS!

First Day Jitters

It was only a half day and I am EXHAUSTED! I had forgotten how much energy it takes to keep up with 12- 6 year olds! I have a PRECIOUS class. You would think on the first day that they would be quiet, nervous, some-what reserved...NOPE! My class was chit chatty all day but seemed very comfortable with me and eachother. I think I was more nervous than they were!It all started with a bloody loose tooth which eventually popped out (you would have thought the little girl lost a limb) and the first words out of one little boys mouth was "I don't have any scissors." You may be thinking big whoop...he said he needed some scissors. Well, he said it in the cutest first grade speech impetement way when you can't say your "r"s and it just comes out awwwws. TOO CUTE!

The best part was seeing my kids from last year. I was always told that you will never forget your first class during your first year teaching and I can completely relate after today. I got hug after hug and even a "clamped around the neck, holding on forever, never letting go" kind of hug....priceless! I have the most rewarding job in the world!

Wedding, MVP, and Sharks...

...the title pretty much sums up what's been going on with me!

Graham and I just got back from Caroline (one of my Clemson KKG sorority sisters) and Trenton's wedding in Charleston. It was absolutely beautiful and it was so good to see some college buds. This is me, Kathleen, Hannah, Meg, Lindsey, and Leslie. Aren't the bridesmaid's dresses precious??

MVP? Not "most valuable player" in my case. All my life I have been experiencing a weird extra heart beat. It would maybe happen once a week for a couple seconds. Unfortunately, last week it hit an all time high...escalating into heart palpitations and sharp chest pain for 2 straight days. On the third day, I started to get very concerned and frankly very scared. I got squeezed in to my family Dr. where they hooked me up to an EKG machine and recorded the palpitations. They gave me a 24 holter monitor to wear at home and record my heart activity (not fun, it was extremely uncomfortable). My family Dr. referred me to a cardiologist where he believes he will diagnose me with MVP...mitral valve prolapse. Basically, your mitral valve controls blood flow on the left side of your heart. The valve opens and closes with each heartbeat. It works like a one-way gate, letting blood flow from your upper heart chamber to your lower chamber.
When you have mitral valve prolapse, the valve closes after blood flows through. But the valve bulges backward a little. It looks like a tiny parachute or balloon as it bulges. The good thing is, its not dangerous and totally normal for those who have had it as an infant. Depending on the severity, the cardiologist will prescribe medicine to make this weird feeling of my heart pounding through my chest go away! Good news...I'm not dying but boy was I terrified!

On a lighter note, for all you shark week fans out there...I hope you are not watching it more than my husband...you may start speaking in shark terms:

We were pulling into our favorite, local Mexican restaurant which seemed a little crowded to Graham because he decided that "people are flocking here like great whites to Seal Island." Dork. Thank goodness Shark Week 2008 wraps up tonight on the Discovery Channel..I'm beginning to see these guys in my sleep...

Sing It Sunday!

So I've been tagged by Caren and Magnolia Belle's Musings to intentionally embarrass myself and list 5 songs that I would never admit to singing out loud...lucky for you readers I am a total dork and have always been made fun of my elevator music/ soft rock / old people music choices...

In no particular order...
1. Air Supply- Even the Nights are Better...classic, belt it out when you are alone kind of song
2. Billy Ocean-Get Outta My Dreams....and into my car...come on you know you this one!
3. Cher- I Found Someone...I really feel like a superb singer when I perform this one....NOT
4. Chicago- You're the Inspiration....OK anything by Chicago! I actually had a roommate in college hear my Chicago collection, and she rolled her eyes while saying "Are you serious? This is what my Dad has in the waiting room of his doctor's office"...she was definitely not impressed.
5. Clay Aiken- Invisible...too embarrassing to even warrant an explanation.

The sad thing is..I had to really narrow down my choices...I know loser alert!

Lazy Blogger

I guess there just hasn't been much going on worth writing about...

I have been going to school more often to get my classroom ready, and I'm almost there! We start on the 18th of August, and I am very excited for a new year and new crop of precious little first graders!

Even though school starts pretty soon, I am trying to lay low until a week before we have to go back and work. I am trying to be as lazy as possible because once those little tikes walk in the room for the first time, it hits me like a ton of bricks, and I am not sane again until the end of May. Therefore, I have been a t.v. junkie and a movie watching fiend (well-deserved of course).

A couple nights ago, I went with some friends to see MAMA MIA! If you haven't seen it...GO! It makes you want to get up and dance or sing at the top of your lungs (as the 60 year old ladies behind us could not stop doing). I am going to get the soundtrack and you better believe I am going to see it again...its just one of those feel good, make you smile kinds of movies...fabulous.

That's about all folks...my life will start "bitter sweetly"picking up again in August due to back to work but FOOTBALL SEASON!

Looking forward to a summer party at Margaret's tonight...I'm off to make some cheesecake brownies....YUM!

Under Construction and a big Yipee!

Thank you Hilary! My blog needed a serious makeover, and I looove it....very "Clemsonesque" with the orange and purple accents! : )

Congratulations to Bailey! She beat out Autumn and won Legally Blonde the Search for Elle Woods...whew I was sweating it out at the end. I had to watch it this morning on Tivo because Graham and I went to see Batman last night (amazingly phenomenal movie by the way)! I immediately called Graham (he watched the majority of the season with me....shhhh....don't tell him I told) and asked him when we were going to see her on Broadway since I invested so much time in the show AND my MOH Liza lives in the big apple AND the last time that I got fully invested in a reality show that found Broadway leads (Grease) we got to go!...Unfortunately he gave me the big thumbs down, but you better believe I'm not going down without a fight!
